- Whats New in Simply Labels IV
-
-
- Most efforts in this version were directed at making the program
- more consistent and easier to use instead of adding new features.
- A lot of effort was put into the user interface to make it both
- easier but still familar to current users. Also most of the
- limitations in previous versions have been removed.
-
-
- USER INTERFACE
-
- ■ Simply Labels now uses dialog boxes for all program input
- and messages.
-
- ■ Program has complete mouse support.
-
- ■ Complete hypertext on-line help system with over 160 help
- screens.
-
- ■ New way to view your files. Single line mode displays your
- labels, one per line, in the label window. This window
- scrolls in 4 directions to view your entire file. A
- moveable highlight marks the current label. Change the view
- at any time by pressing Alt+V. This is great for large
- files. A lot of requests for this one.
-
- ■ Hot keys provide easy access at any time to commonly used
- functions. Keys included for: save file, edit current
- label, move to label#, change view, dos shell, edit
- typeface, Line feed, form feed, user commands and direct
- commands. Press Alt+K displays hot key menu.
-
- ■ All menus now use F10 for Quit. (Finally!)
-
-
- PRINTER SUPPORT
-
- ■ Printer support is now by drivers which you select from a
- list when you configure the program. Drivers are provided
- for most popular printers.
-
- ■ Included utility allows you to create or edit a printer
- driver.
-
- ■ User Commands - Allow you to define any printer command,
- save it to disk and use it anytime.
-
- ■ Direct Commands - Allow you to send a one time command from
- the printer driver at any time.
-
-
- LABEL FORMATS
-
- ■ Wider range of label sizes. From 8 to 74 characters wide by
- 1 to 60 lines high.
-
- ■ Typefaces are no longer limited to one at the start of each
- line. Now up to 128 commands may be placed ANYWHERE in a
- label format allowing multiple fonts per line. Typeface
- commands are selected from the current printer driver.
-
- ■ Automatic numbering of labels. New Sequence function allows
- up to 5 numbers in your label to be automatically
- incremented for each label printed. Great for tickets!
-
- ■ Special non-printing character (^) in background text used
- to adjust the length of each line. This allows proper
- printing of multiple labels across a page even when using
- several fonts.
-
- ■ Label formats are now stored in separate files so there is
- no limit to the number allowed.
-
-
- IMPROVED PRINTING
-
- ■ Number of copies may be set at print time.
-
- ■ Automatic alterations including, center complete label,
- center each line, indent each line, convert to upper case.
-
- ■ Up to 12 labels across.
-
-
- OTHER NEW FEATURES
-
- ■ All aspects of the label format used in a file can now be
- modified at any time, even if the file contains hundreds of
- labels. You can change the size, layout, typefaces and even
- the background text.
-
- ■ Report and Envelope definitions may be save to disk and
- loaded as needed.
-
- ■ Envelopes can now print a message line anywhere on the
- envelope and in any font.
-
- ■ Simply Floppies is now part of the main program. Select
- Floppy under the Add menu. A dialog box is used to define
- the label and the definition may be saved for later use. If
- there are too many files for the label, you can individually
- select the files to include.
-
- ■ Import functions have been simplified and improved. Import
- definitions may be saved to disk for later use. Directly
- supports comma delimited files.
-
- ■ New Export function writes to a comma delimited file.
-
- ■ Better use of memory allows more labels per file.
-
- ■ Date function is definable for any date format.
-
- ■ Automatically reads files from all previous versions. No
- conversion utility needed.
-
- ■ Improved users manual in EXE form. Includes lots of actual
- program screens and has an index. May be installed as a TSR
- to view while you run the program.
